INFRARED IMAGING TEST:

A radiometric imaging camera is employed to locate visually most infiltration and heat entry sources in your home during one of the visits. Images may be purchased for posterity if you wish.

BLOWER DOOR TEST:

A blower door test is made on all site visits. The equipment is set up in a doorway (of least traffic) for the house infiltration measurements.

IT"S BLOWER DOG!!

A large fan will be run a number of times to cause major air leaks in the home to be measured and identified. We will document all of the big ones so that you can seal them up later. It is usually quite surprising to know where some of these are in your home. (My personal office had a huge one where I would have never looked, no more cold toes now!)

You may want to go shopping or something during this, it's quite noisy and draws in a lot of outside air into the house. And your a/c or heat is turned off for the duration of the test.

DUCT LEAKAGE TEST:

This test involves sealing up all of your central air grills to measure their total leakage. From this you will know whether you need to have the ducts looked at for sealing up the leaks. We will certainly be careful not to damage paint or walls, but if your grills are barely screwed on, it may become necessary to remove them as needed to complete the test. A contractor will need to properly reseal and mount them to prevent them from falling on your head anyway. Please realize that crusty paint, caulking, etc. may fall off. Please don't give KR the "evil eye" for this, I can't be responsible for something that was just waiting to happen soon anyway.

PRESSURE PAN TEST:

This test is provided as lagniappe, since it is relatively quick and easy once the previous tests are set-up. It is only needed if there is significant ductwork leakage found. At that point, the test will zero in on the ducts that are the worst leakers. This can save you some cost with your a/c contractor in tracking down duct leaks. That's because It will show those ducts which are not enough of a problem to bother with leak checking.
